HARDENERS As Concentrated Compacted Elemental Alloying Products:
The mechanical and physical properties of pure aluminium can significantly be improved by addition of alloying elements in form of tablet / briquette. These additives in concentrated form, which are in use in cast house, have eliminated the use of master alloys.For the following advantages the alloying additives are mostly used which are very convenient and economical to achieve optimum properties and highest quality standard.
Some of these are
- Manganese - Aluminium tablet as 75-80% Manganese and balance pure aluminium or non-hygroscopic flux or combination of pure Aluminium and flux.
- Chromium - Aluminium tablet as 75-80% Chromium and balance aluminium or non-hygroscopic flux or combination of pure Aluminium and flux.
- Iron-Aluminium tablet as 75-80% Iron and balance Aluminium or non-hygroscopic flux or combination of pure Aluminium and flux.
- Copper-Aluminium tablet as 75-80% Copper and balance Aluminium or non-hygroscopic flux or combination of pure Aluminium and flux.
The tablets are available in 500-1333gm of weight(element would be avaiable from 500-1000gm), wrapped in aluminium foil esuring dry product, put in card board boxes, stacking on pellets for eay shipment.
The advantage of using them are
- Quick dissolution in aluminium melt at normal operating temprature.
- Concentrated form and self sinking.
- High elemental recovery + 95 percent.
- Loss of temprature on addition of additives is bare minimum.
- Accurate weight to avoid weighing problems.
- Minimum dross formation and gas pick up.
